New Moon

As the New moon happens at 9:15 PM, PDT on Sunday night, planet Mercury goes retrograde at 6:50 PM, PDT on May 18th. That means planet Mercury is already making a station as a new moon cycle begins.  The moon goes from waning to waxing, or yin to yang (which is why we start things on new moons and finish on a full moon cycle) Mercury turns tale and shifts this new toward something old being renewed. Our new, May moon has the most auspicious attributes in a direction that reflects a previous time or something old being made to look fresh and fashionable, current as in the sublime.

Retrograde

Retro mode goes in two directions: to re-craft something out-of-date to appear new or to make the new reminiscent of a previous time. The back spin of the elliptic is “bent out of shape” or warped. Like watching a tide move in and out, things shift to and fro, back and forth until Mercury gets forward in three weeks. To ward off unnecessary grief, prudence is paramount.
