Sun Dog 2020

The Sun crossed over Earth’s equator on September 22nd at 6:35 AM in the western hemisphere, Pacific Standard Time, marking the Autumnal Equinox and the month of the Dog.

The Dog is one of the most formidable sign in the Zodiac pantheon. So much so, that just in my lifetime we’ve had three United States Presidents all born in the same Fire Dog year, 1946. All of these men were born in the summer months and each being a slightly different monthly sign, giving them a distinctive and unique character as a Fire Dog. From ancient times a dog is a lion, a guardian and protector.

Guard Dogs

Fire Dog Chiefs

42nd President Bill Clinton (William Jefferson Clinton) is a Fire Dog born in the month of the Monkey, a Monkey-Dog. 43rd president George W. Bush is a Fire Dog born in the month of the Goat, a Goat-Dog. And the 45th president, Donald Trump (Donald John Trump) born in the month of the Horse, is a Horse-Dog. Fire is intrinsically yang and masculine. These men are all a different bred of a Fire Dog, but they are all scrappy, yappy dogs. The Monkey-Dog a primal trickster, the Goat-Dog goes along to get along and the Horse Dog is a double-yang sign prone to excess in the extreme.

The Fire dog is a fire element in the five elements, unlike the four western elements because these five fit with our five sensory perceptions. Fire belongs to sight. For that reason these men maybe be viewed as visionaries. Fire dogs are fast to inflame and often burn out quickly. Fire is known to attach itself to something it can consume in order to survive. In my view this is a trait all these men share.

Shields Up!

We are now in a metal year where fire heats things up and beats them into shape. It is therefore no surprise that many now wear masks and shields to survive this transition, in order to protect ourselves. It is also playing out in the law enforcement of our peace force, now known for it’s extreme violence, to wear a shield. these are all predictable parts to a moving pattern written in the stars.

The Month of the Sun can change in terms of where the Sun actually is and when it gets there, but the sign the represents the Sun in the eastern Zodiac system is fixed. This means that whenever the Sun crosses over the equatorial belt to begin Autumn so too does the the Dog sign to begin ts month on the Northwest side of the compass.

This is ingenious because even as magnetic poles may drift with moon cycles and dates that vary the Dog is always fitted to the Northwest spot, wherever that spot, is at any time or place. This differs greatly from the Western Greek constellations of Astrology that occupied a static spot (like a commemorative novelty) only when they were named many centuries ago. Since that time all the astrological constellations are drifting away from Earth like a flock of birds.

The Wheel

Both the modern western and eastern systems have multiple inconsistencies and variables in their tracking. It’s for this reason, that in my many decades of practice in feng shui (the art of place) that I discovered a way to reset the cosmic clock’s alignment with the compass Zodiac signs; to mark celestial events and define locations in time-space dimension, orwhat is known as Flying Star, feng shui. My method of practice fuses astronomy and astrology on the cosmic clock of our universe for an enhanced method of accuracy in diving good fortunes.

Like all clocks there are a lot of moving parts but in order for them to work they must have both a constant and variables, in order to work. This rings true for the proper use and practice of feng shui. The Zodiac signs provide a constant in a set of endless moving variable parts. Whether one is in the northern or southern hemisphere splitting fall and springs seasons we are all, now are in the month of the Dog and a season of great change is upon us.

Under Pressure

In the Northern hemisphere the Sun in the Dog marks the coming of Autumn and the harvest which is fittingly as it sits on the metal side of the wheel with it’s direction Northwest. In Form Feng Shui the northwest is the cliff-side, the dropping off point where change is often abrupt and unexpected.

The Zodiac Dog is attuned with the sign of Astrological sign of Libra (although the constellation has moved on the novelty in astrology persists) and rules over courts, commerce, and travel. The Dog is a member the the Power Triad with the Tiger and Horse sign. Dog’s secret buddy is the Hare. The Northwest compass spot for the Dog adjoins with the Pig which follows the dog in the celestial transits.

Classic Pairings

Dogs often come in pairs and are legendary for partnerships of all styles and varieties. The month of the Dog is a time of making friends, guarding assets and resetting a proper balance. The scales need aligning as the harvest begins to weigh the winter stocks, both metaphorically and literally. This year is a Metal element year in the cycles of harmony and conflict. A Metal element rules the sensory perception of scents and smells of olfactory senses. For that reason air quality and other heavy metals are a big topic at this junction in time. Dogs are as varied as their mythology and history presents, having befriended humanity at the dawn of civilization.

Dogs or war or therapy dogs either or, dogs are by nature competitive. With a battle ranging in the star patterns this adds to the scuffles this year. Opposing the Dog in the Ox is a long winding and unwinding, set of outer rim planets that have their dramas playing-out for several years now. Jupiter the gas giant is now going full, forward motion, hell-bent toward the elliptic path of Pluto, the smallest rock in the hardest place. As these two get closer to crashing into each others transit fields Saturn sits nearby and is also retrograde but will turn tail and switch allegiance on September 29th as it goes forward.

Grinding the Bones

Saturn is known in cosmogony as Grandfather time. He rules over the old bones (caries the scythe and comes as an Angel of death) and is said to be Karma personified. This is just the beginning of the end. As Jupiter rolls over Pluto around November 6th he will join forces with Saturn. These shifting tides in the Earth’s outer rim planets will bring a wash of unintended consequences. By the Advent of the12 days before the traditionally, western Christmas season the newly formed pair; Jupiter and Saturn will cross into the Tiger to begin a whole new era leaving Pluto out in the cold.
